Best AI Writing Generators (Dec 2023)

AI for Blogging!

With the explosion of AI tools this year, it’s no surprise one of the first areas people look for help on is writing. I’m adamant that good writing is a critical skill, but AI is quickly showing how we can write better, and faster, with its help.

This isn’t intended to be an all-encompassing writeup, the space is constantly evolving so as things change I’ll update this article in response.

With that, let’s get to it!

Best Overall – Writesonic

WriteSonic takes the top spot on this list due to its user-friendly design, content quality, and ease of use. By combining advanced algorithms with user customization options, WriteSonic provides a comprehensive solution for content creators seeking efficiency, creativity, and reliability in their writing process.

Writesonic offers several different products, but the AI Article Writer is the one I’ve narrowed down as the best for generating written content. It uses ChatGPT-4 & 3.5, so you get the most up-to-date information in your articles. It offers tons of different template options, for almost any kind of content you might need to write. As a blogger, I’ve found it most helpful for breaking through writer’s block, and as a good “first draft” for my posts.

While they do offer a free tier, the paid tier is worth the investment for the higher word count limit and access to Chat-GPT 4. At the time of writing, you can get a single seat for just $13 a month. If that’s too much, the free tier offers up to 10,000 words per month, but only uses ChatGPT-3.5, so the information available won’t be current.

Best Budget Option – Rytr

Ryter takes the best budget category due to its robust free plan, and a highly affordable entry-level paid plan at just $9 for their saver tier.

The free plan allows up to 10,000 characters (about 2500 words) per month and includes a plagiarism checker and some limited AI-generated images.

The Saver plan bumps the character limit up to 100,000 per month, and you can generate up to 20 images a month. This is something most other apps charge extra for, so it’s a pretty great value!

Ryter isn’t as good as some of its competitors at generating long-form content without your input, and there are fewer templates at your disposal.

All that aside, Ryter is a great option for writers on a stick budget, so give it a try!

Best Runner Up – Jasper

Jasper is one of the most popular AI writing tools and has been on the market for quite some time. It’s powered by Open AI, PaIM, Anthropic, Cohere, as well as Jasper’s own algorithms.

Jasper’s strength is in its personalization. While it has fewer templates to work from, it gives you more freedom and flexibility than Writesonic.

Jasper has a slightly higher learning curve than Writesonic, but its customization and flexibility let you fine-tune the workflow to suit your use case. The downside of this is the tool is more complex, and less user-friendly than competitors.

Jasper also doesn’t have a free plan (just a free trial), and is more expensive than competitors. The entry-level plan is $49 per seat per month, which is outside the budget of most people looking to start using an AI tool for their writing.

Alternative #1 – ZimmWriter

ZimmWriter is another popular AI writing generator, whose main draw is its enhanced learning capabilities. ZimmWriter’s adaptive learning algorithms result in content that evolves and improves as you use it.

ZimmWriter also is more flexible in the niches it works best in, seamlessly transitioning between different writing styles and industries, making it a great option for users with diverse content needs.

ZimmWriter’s entry-level plan starts at $14.97 a month, and there is no free plan. You can also purchase a lifetime license for $297 if you want to avoid recurring charges and plan to use the tool for some time going forward.

ZimmWriter is also a great option for bloggers and marketing content creators, with plugins for Semrush, SEO optimization, WordPress bulk importing, and more.

Alternative #2 – Koala

The last tool I’ll cover is Koala. It uses ChatGPT to help build evolving and improving content with use. Its user-friendly interface makes it accessible to both season content creators, and newbies to AI-powered writing tools. The learning curve is minimal, allowing users to jump right in without spending hours learning how it works.

Koala integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word and Google Docs, making it easy to transfer content generated by the tool directly into your documents. It’s also compatible with WordPress, so it’s another great option for bloggers.

Koala’s plans start at $9 a month, which gives you access to ChatGPT-4, SEO optimization, and 15,000 words per month. It offers what I would consider a free trial, in that you can use the website to generate content with some limited options, and allows up to 5000 words per month.
